Why we love it:
Situated on a picturesque lakefront property, this once dated traditional home gave way to a modern renovation worthy of its lush surroundings and water views. A large structural beam and awkward access from the adjacent garage created challenges to expanding the space to incorporate all of the owner’s requirements which included reconfiguring a nearby mudroom and relocating access to the main floor powder room away from the kitchen. Despite these difficulties we were able to shift the non-bearing interior partitions to include multiple work zones and a large center island with seating for five. Strategically moving the garage access door and powder room door into the mudroom provided a winning combination of privacy and the additional space necessary for an expanded kitchen. This thoughtfully organized entertainer’s kitchen fully embraces the modern aesthetic the homeowners envisioned and completes their desire for a comfortable lakeside home capable of hosting family and friends.
